Adapting to a Changing World.
This theme brings together the elements of climate change, technological change, regulatory change, and societal change, particularly as nations adapt to COVID-19 and the changed world in which we live.
The Congress program will begin with the official opening ceremony on February 7, followed by a senior officials’ session and the opening of the technical exhibition. Technical sessions, poster sessions, foresight sessions, keynote speakers, closing ceremony and PIARC Prizes round out the official program.
There will be over 50 technical sessions under two complimentary themes: Winter Service and, new for 2022, Road Resilience (in all seasons). This is reflected in the 15 topics of the international call for papers.
Foresight Sessions are high-level, 90-minute sessions that are co-organized with international and regional organizations which are partners of PIARC. The sessions aim at consolidating the global outreach of the Congress as the major global forum of discussion and exchange for winter service and road resilience.
Foresight Sessions are related to the themes of the Congress, i.e. winter service or resilience. They address topical issues that are complementary to those dealt with by PIARC Technical Committees and Task Forces, and that are presented in the Technical Sessions of the Congress.
